There isn't a whole lot of good in goodbye

How does that country song go, "saying goodbye is only good when you are not the one..."? Well it is something I have never gotten used too and something we all hate, in most cases at least. I know some of you are thinking of uncle Pain and aunt Drain or someone like them right now and are saying to yourself when they visit it is a pretty easy to show them to the door.
Missionary life is full of goodbyes, just part of being a missionary I guess. We have been on the field just a few months over a year now and we have moved too many times. Our kids go by houses and see a pool or toys in the yard and ask, "When are we going to move to that house?" They think all houses are up for rent, now that we have moved twice since we have arrived here at Vianopolis.
Two weeks ago the Bergmans left, a couple that was in the Portuguese course with us. They are headed to Mozambique. More goodbyes! The picture is Dawson saying goodbye to his buddy Rueben.
One of the wonderful things about knowing the Savior is that He never leaves us. Acts 5:32 says that God has given us the Holy Spirit...He is always there, never leaves, never says goodbye. Now sometimes we check out, sometimes we take time away from the Word, stop talking to our Lord but that is us.....NOT GOD. He is always there waiting, loving us despite our wayward ways. He only longs to say "hi", to talk, to fellowship and never says "goodbye"!
